Steadily moving forward

Man...this is taking me forever. Had a busy summer with the family and some minor knee surgery that slowed me down. Then I got sidetracked on another project. I have a Sherline hobby mill that I decided to convert to CNC. It will come in handy in making some decorative pieces for my bike. It has taken me a little longer than I thought.

Mechanically, my bike is done. I'm focusing on cosmetic stuff now. Made some covers using fiberglass, fabricating sissy bar, etc... I'm trying to make sure I have everything done before I tear it down for paint. My biggest fear is that I get it painted and realize I forgot something.

Should have everything done over Christmas holidays. Then I'll have til March to get all the bodywork and prep done. Finish paint by the end of March and riding in April!

Well....it's been a long time since my last update...the economy has a way of putting things on hold.....

There has been enough sunshine in the Northwest...that seeing all the bikes on the road...has driven me back to make some progress on the Dyna.

I decided to scrap the fuel tank...(Though Oilburner did a killer job on mocking up a villian tank to blend into the frame mods...)...and decided to do a custom....(more on that later...)

We did manage to knock out the stainless exhaust system.....the mufflers turned out kinda cool...the current thinking is that they will be interchangeable and rebuildable......(At least it will look legal...) And while straight pipes look bad-ass.....they tend to be a pain in the ass to tune....

Please note, that the exhaust is hanging on the bike loosely for mock-up purposes and I will tighten them up once we get the mounting brackets done...

This bike is turning into a three year build.....

Go figure....the usual story...time and money....

Here are a couple of pics of the fuel tank.....

I started out w/ a Villian that Oil Burner put together for me...but I decided to go in a different direction....

I'm hoping to actually be riding it this summer.

Working on the exhaust brackets etc....(not easy on a rubbermount because you can't tie to the frame.

I'm hoping to have it ready for tear down by the end of the week.

The nice thing about building stainless pipes is that when it's all said and done...all you have to do is polish them up...and it's all good.

We hand made the pipes, mufflers, baffles, and the machined brackets...

Wow, I'm never on here anymore, and don't know what made me check the site this morning, but I'm glad I did. It's looking great! The metal work is really cool, keep plugging along at it! Awesome bud! Mark.

I appreciate your feedback...

I've been torn in a lot of different directions with this bike. (Mostly revolving around the rear fender.

I have yet to find a fender set-up for a dyna rear end that hugs the tire and looks good.

The only way to get a CFL look would be to mount it to the swingarm vs the frame.

Yet it looks pretty stupid to do it that way.

So I came up with this design..and had to change the tank accordingly.....
