Here is an update for those of you who were interested in the progress of my build.

One of the things I hate about Dyna frames is the stamped piece of metal that they put under the seats.

Getting rid of the stamped piece of crap...

Further cutting down the rear fender struts which are no longer needed and would be in the way of fitting a 180 rear tire.

Remains of the Red Line BMX frame that my fabricator stole the metal from in order to build some new support bars in place of the stamped piece of crap.

Red Line BMX frame tubing tacked into place....Maybe now I can go over bigger jumps.....

In order to do this tubing exercise correctly my fabricator had to lower the battey box and electrical box by 3/4" each...

I should have the frame up on my shop lift tonight...and I'm going to start putting this thing back together.

Next big thing as far as I can see is the everlasting question of chain allignment / tire clearance.

I'm still undecided on whether I'm going to use shocks or struts....(It all depends on how the fender lines up...)

They both look great to me! If I was building a Dyna, I would jump all over one of those $700 baker 6 speeds, that the rest of us can't use in a softail build.

Wow I didn't know that you where going to take out the under the seat frame tubes and make new ones, more stuff I din't think it had to be done... BTW, on the '93 down Dynas (like mine) there isn't the stamp piece of metal under the seat, just the tubes.

I didn't have to take out the stamped seat panel....I just couldn't stand the asthetics of it.......These are the things that you don't pay careful enough attention too when you first buy a motorcycle that you know you are going to chop!

The frame is done....I'll post more pics tomorrow....

I especially want to see a pic of how you milled your inner primary before you throw it back on...

Milling operation

I'm almost embarrased to show you my milling operation. I have a Sherline lathe and have a milling column that goes with it. Not big enough for doing the inner primary. Had to "fabricate" a work around which requires me to hand feet it into the mill. Yeah...it's a little scary. Fortunately it is aluminum and pretty soft. It aint pretty but it works. I'll try to post some pics tonight.

I made a little progress last night with assembly.

Installed the kickstand...(Which you have to do before you put the motor and tranny in on Dyna's) and also installed the motor mounts and tranny.

Installed the .810 offset sprocket on the tranny...(I had this one in my hands..so thought I would see if it cleared before ordering anything else.)

Got the motor in and it's bolted down and torqued....(Damn those things are heavy and I'm not a small guy...)

Top motor mount and rear swingarm next...

Inner Primary Mods

Didn't get any pictures of my actual inner primary. Once I got that bitch to finally fit, I didn't want to pull it off again. I'm attaching a picture showing where it need modifying. I'm not sure if you will have an issue or not. What brand sprocket is that? PBI? I had one of those and had some problems that's why I switched to the Baker. Keep in mind, I'm using a 25 mm offset kit (longer mainshaft and main gear). Yours may go a lot easier.

Where did you buy that 25mm offset kit and how much was it?

Few more pics of the progress tonight....

Mounted the Swingarm...and going with 10" struts for now....(May to progressive 11" shocks later...) If I want lower than 11" shocks, then I can always get a 1" lowering kit on the rear in addition to the shorter shocks.

Here is the top motor mount that we fabbed up.

Since I'm going to use a springer front end..I decided to go with a pro-one fork stop that is actually part of the lower neck bearing race.

Here is a pic of the rear wheel on...(DNA 18 x 5.5 Massive Spoke Rim w/ black powdercoated hubs and rims) Thanks to John at Scooters.

Alignment looks a little close to the tire to me w/ the .810 offset front sprocket....I might need the next size larger offset to clear the Metzler 180
