it goes between the top dust cover and the top tree.

tighten it down to compress your bearings then back it off abit...

word is, if its too tight your bike will drift

rear fender

Hey guys, I know this topic has been discussed at nauseum, but now that I am dealing with it, all the discussion on the rear fender does not quite put me in a position to feel comfortable attaching it, so I am putting a picture below hoping that someone can look at it and say what is what. the problem is that if the fender rests on the chrome bracket in the back, it does not reach the place that it *looks like* it should attach to the lower frame (right-most circle in photo). Then there is the welded piece that looks to hold the oil tank up except that there are 2 holes on either side that oil tank would cover (fender does not reach this piece either). No problem - I have the 2 CCI brackets that have been talked about, but how do those 2 brackets attach to this welded piece? (circled in middle of photo)

Sorry for sounding dumb about this, but that fender does not reach any part of the frame once it is on the chrome bracket. I could probably stretch the end of the fender to reach the frame, but it looks like I will need to stretch it about 2 inches toward the front, and before I drill a hole in my fender, I wanted assurance that I have it correctly, or correction that I have it wrong. Thanks for any help on this.

Elvis,
You should have a bag in the nuts and bolts box labeled rear fender, In this bag, are 3 bolts, 3 nuts and 3 chrome spacers. The two spacers that are the same lenght are for the top mount, (I believe your rectangle) and the smaller of the 3 spacers is for the bottom mount, ( I believe the circle )

Does this help ya out??

Hey Punisher. Yeah, that does help out. Thanks. But one thing... did you have to really push your fender to get it to reach those holes?

Elvis,
Punisher told you about the three spacers. These spacers are long. Two of them are approx. 2 inches long and the shorter one is about 1 1/2 inches long. These will take up the distance between the fender and the frame. Hope this helps. Bill

Anyone,
Getting ready to run my oil lines. Can someone tell me the sequence from the oil tank. The oil tank has three outlets. One faces toward the center line of the bike and the other two are side by side facing forward. One is outside and one inside. A photo would also help. Thanks Bill

thanks on the rear fender

thanks wildbill. the information you both gave is perfect. I have the fender spacing figured out, but one more question... what about those 2 brackets labeled "raw steel offset mounting bracket for fender and oil tank"? I am guessing you double those up, hang then from the center hole on the piece on the frame, and connect the other end to the hole in the rear of the oil tank? Ok... if that goes, then I am confident I have all that part of it on right.

Whatcha sendin' the kick stand back for??
While your checking the parts, take a close look at the coil bracket. the two small holes should be counter sunk on the front side,,,, this is the side that has the hole for the ignation switch flush. Mine was sounter sunk on the back side and I am STILL waiting for a replacement. Other then that, there have been just a couple monor problems. Nothing to write home to mother about.

Should ya need any help, just pipe up, someone here should be able to help ya out.
