Hello everyone, gone to LA for a couple of days and saw lots of posting here... Here is my two cents.

My kit came with 1995 softail service and parts manuals. You can always find it from any Harley dealer. In fact any year of softail service manual will help. The steering head construction is pretty generic; the late model harley don't have the cups but the front end setup is just like any other domestic motorcycle...

Timebomb, I don't have my VOES setup either and it's running fine. I talked to a couple of folks that didn't have it install and has been running their bike flawlessly for quite a few months. I will eventually put it on the bike but it sure hasn't effect any performance. (If anyone has the guts to flood this bike and run all out then you the man... , I have gone 170 on my rice rocket but over 100 on this bike you will be putting your life in danger I am sure.. ) I am actually thinking about getting a regular EVO engine in this bike and save the 100 for a prostreet with suspension to get more out the engine. I just can't see this bike using the power the 100 can give. But I do think VOES is good for emission and fuel economy though.

I have been reading some magazines and saw lots of bike featured in it that require lots of money to build. I think we are definitely building our bikes the smart way, and the finished product looks just as cool and runs just as nice. FATKAO

Forward Air says my kit has arrived. I'm going to try to pick it up in my Ranger. Hope I can tie it down good enough and that the pallet hangs together until I can get it home an hour away. I'll be taking pics. Spent the entire day getting my shop in condition so I could work. Man it was a mess after all the polishing I did on my last project. Also fell into a deal on a 1950 Ford pickup that should be getting here any day. Busy busy busy.
As for the Vose switch, it may be more pertinent in California with our oxegenated gas. I've had a few HD's and they will ping here if they get to much advance. Maybe the Revtec is better. I will be putting the Vose switch on.

Hey Kevin,
Congrads on you getting your kit. I have a few questions for you.
First, where did you buy it from? You mentioned Forward Air and that is who Big Easy Choppers is using to ship mine.
Second, how long did it take to get your kit? I am about three weeks into a 4-5 week waiting period and it is killing me.

Third and maybe most imporantly, did it fit in your Ranger?
I have a Toyota I hope it fits into.

Thanks and the best of luck to you on the build.
Jamie

Talking Hard Core II builders

There are 25 boxes within the larger container...bring a boxcutter and you'll be able to distribute the load across the entire bed...

you can leave the ol'lady there if you run out of room in the bed, and replace her with your wheels in the cab!

What size drill bit and tap did you use to drill triple tree and fork stops.

My chopper has landed

It's in my shop and all the boxes are opened. The motor is fucking beeeeeautiful all polished. I will post a few pictures later tonight I don't have time right at the moment. I am really impressed by the quality of the frame, I didn't realize it was made from 1.25 and 1.50 tube. Also surprised that I got a 6 gun gas cap, that was a nice little plus. This is going to be a lot of fun to put together. it took me like 2months to get the damn thing and I didn't get any kind of manual. Did you guys get a manual?
I bought it through lowridersbysummers.com for the lowest price I could find. So low in fact he doesn't want me to tell how low because apparently it was more hassle than he thought it would be. he was extremely helpful and stayed on top of this deal the whole way. I would recomend him to anybody.
I guess the frst thing I will need to do is mount the tires so That will be my project tonight when I get home from work. Can you guys recomend a good manual? The only part I'm really worried about how to figure out is the primary. I've never put a big twin together from scratch and never had to mess with the primary allignment anmd stuff.
I guess I've rattled along enough for now. I'll catch up with you guys later. I've attached a pic of the polished motor I took last night without enough light.

Hello everyone, this tread made me get off the fence and order my kit. I ordered it through jimscycleshop.com on April 28. It just arrived today. I ordered the black matte finished motor because there was no backorder. $12,299.00 I talked to Eric who said that if I wanted to swap parts I could. I would have ordered the parts that I wanted and he would swap parts before he sent it. I choose not to do this because I dont know what upgrades I want. I took it home and unpacked the large crate. This motor looks great. I wont be able to start work for about two days because of work. I am sure I will be asking alot of questions because this is my first build. I am lucking because I have some friend that said they would help and long as I supplied the beer. If I run out of beer money, I will be asking you guys for help. Bill..

Wildbill and kevinhog, Good to see you guys are ready to go.
I didn't recieve a manual of any kind and didn't really need one. Anything I couldn't figure out someone on here answered for me.
As far as the inner primary goes and alignment goes it is explained in you belt drive directions and is pretty simple to do.I spent more time checking this than probably anything. I would reccommend both of you read all posts on this thread as it would serve as a FAQ of sorts concerning these kits and will cover most any problem you will have. If something else comes up just ask and we'll all give you a hand . Sort of like getting to build another bike ourselves lol without spending any money.

Wildbill,
Wow! that is great service. I ordered the black motor kit April 28 and I just got an e-mail saying it will be a few more weeks until I get it!
I think it is my wife's doing as I have to sell one of my cars before it gets here.

Anyone interested in a 1963 Nova with a 1994 LT-1 and six speed?

Well I did all my inventory and everything indeed seems to be here. Unable to decide where to start I just grabbed the first shiny thing and decided to install that. It's the triple trees and cups and stuff. I decided I could drill the tree later after the mock up but I incountered my first problem all ready!!!
The bearings don't slide down the neck post too smooth. I slid one down and it got past the top but won't slip over the bottom. So I just thought I would slide it off and now it won't come off either. I should have slipped the post in the freezer over night and they probably would have slipped right on.
Any how, jus thought I'de touch base with you guys. I'm going to go out there right now and attempt to resolve this issue.

Kevinhog, Your triple tree stem should be a "screw-in" type where you screw to the bottom tree. Just unscrew the bottom tree bracket and you should able to press the bearing right out. If you put some grease on the stem and grease the bearing it should slide on and off very easily.

You should have a 95 Harley service manual that comes with the all the boxes. I believe section 2 (chassies) will show you the setup of the front end. Don't forget about dust cup and other washers for the triple tree assembly. If you don't have the manual any Harley shop will have them and the year of the bike, specially for the chassie part really doesn't make that much of difference; and I believe the torque specs are very similar too.

I second to Magicman suggestion on read through the previous posts and collect all the instructions and paperwork you received on your kit and organized them by sections. The chassie portion of the bike can not be any easier then it already is. Primaries and electricals are probably the most confusing part but the previous posts go into quite a bit of details to cover how to get it done right.

I guess what I am saying is the earlier guys went through a lot of effort to figure things out on their own and shared with everyone. By not reading their previous postings will only discourage them to share. I apologized for being blunt; and I am definitely willing to help on any topic that none of us covered before. Good luck and have fun building. FATKAO
