IT's Alive!!!!
"I HAVE CREATED FIRE"
Well all is just fine! she gave a few burps and came alive with fire roaring out of her pipes
After cycling oil into the engine I did about a 10 min run to get the engine warmed up. then I put my industrial fan blowing on the engine to help seat the rings better.
The engine was very smooth with no noise and no leaks.
Just finished bleeding the brakes. the only thing left to do is put the mirrors on.
On Monday I'll take her out for the first ride. its a bummer I have to work the next 3 days
Maldog
PS
PsychoJester,
I"ll post in the morning for you the rear wheel setup. all my notes are in my shop. sorry

Kevin, I thank you for the offer, but I need to get this done locally. I am shopping for a painter that I can count on for future builds.
Psycho, you are correct!
Dude and Dog, Congrats!!!
Yes they are loud,,, and I needed them louder today.... long story short, that lady will stop at the next right turn on red... and I bet her ears will be ringing for a while.
Yes, it does drag in the twisties, when the heal of your boot starts dragging,,, slow it down a bit....

Thanks wdglide, I got my oil tank yesterday. I wasn't sure if it was bolted or just hung off of the hanger.

The axle had a spacer w/it. But that's it.
I've been reading earlier posts, and I think there was suppost to be some in with my wheel. But I didn't see any, and I threw out my wheel boxes. Maybe I missed something?
Does the order go:
Nut
Frame
Spacer (the one that came w/axle)
Spacer (the one I think I'm missing)
Wheel
Spacer (the other one I think I'm missing)
Brakes
Frame
Nut
Please help me out here
PsychoJester,
Here is the sequence for the rear wheel. somewhere in the thread wdglide put a photo showing the rear wheel w/parts. not sure what page? I just copied it in my notes.
from right to left looking from behind:
1.nut
2.frame
3.brake caliper bracket
4.3 thin washers
5.1 (3/4") spacer
6.the wheel
7.spacer w/lip on it (3/4")
8.big spacer
9.frame
10.nut
Well low & behold! I did write the page down.
Go to page 60....
FYI for all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PUT THE EXHAUST SUPPORT BRACKET
ON BEFORE YOU INSTALL THE CLUTCH CABLE.........
Maldog
Thanks Again'

Got one on Order!!!
My wife surprised me last night with the reciept of a Hard Core II she ordered yesterday for our anniversary. She got it locally (2 miles away) for 13250 for the Polished with no delivery charge because I will pick it up at his shop. Good Price?
The shop owner, Bill, called CCI and nobody could tell him which motor (100 or 110) they will ship with it. Anyone know if they have switched back to the 100?
Also the guy at CCI said up to 6 months waiting list... I thought that was excessive. Anyone else get told this and then get it delivered earlier or later?
Lastly in case anyone is interested the shop is called American Road Motorcycles (540) 937-9896 in Amissville, VA. Owner's name is Bill. This is the first Kit bike he has sold from his shop. Anyone ever do business with him? Or stoppped into their shop? He is a pretty nice guy, so if you are in the area stop in and say hello... hell you might even run into me in there asking him "Is it in yet?"...
Majorly excited here! I just hope I don't have to wait 6 months.
Anyone else out there just put one on order that will be building the same time as me?

Trail, Catalog #s and the Ride
I'm glad that those who are riding are having a good time...no high speed stability problems.
Punisher,
I double check all the measurements with a hanging compass against the catalog specs for the Santee frame (43 degrees) and the CCI trees (7 degress). With the tires aired-up, the top of the steering column is 39" from the ground.
Those numbers mean the HCII kit is designed to have 3" of trail.
3" trail is not a lot for 50 degrees of total rake.
HD uses 6.5" of trail on touring bikes, 5.5" of trail on Dynas and 4.5" of trail on Sportsers. 3" of trail is normally found on sport bikes.
Even Santee recommends 6 degree trees as a maximum. That mean's they recommend 4.5" of trail. 5 degree trees will give our HCIIs 5.25" of trail. I don't know why CCI used 7 degree trees, cost savings?
I've taken my 7 degree trees off and traded them for Stortz 5 degree trees. The bike is actually level when I sit on it.
Do what you what dude...the forum is to share information right?
Later.

Hard to tell. I don't have a speedo so I can't tell how fast I am going when I see the face of God....

NLChoppers -
Fantastic! Hopefully I get mine soon enough that we can build simultaneously...
I had considered Jim's but since the wife did the buying and because we had talked about local support on my first build we went with the local guy.
Let us know when you get your boxes!

There is a bung welded to the fender. I designed the mounting setup so that the fender comes off without having to take off the wheel. So I need the removable spacer.
