Dave the Engineer a.k.a Dave Does It Right

I was going to write a long story about my dealings with Dave but instead I'll just say that I am sorry for not buying from him in the first place and give a BIG THANK YOU to Dave DUPOR for straightening out my bike.
And not teasing me too much :-)

If anyone is looking to hook up with a REAL builder who is a straight shooter and knows what he's doing, go see Dave or give him a call.
I couldn't be happier with him, his knowledge, his ablilities, his communication, his service and his style.

I'm sure there are lot of other REAL builders out there, but I can and will vouch for Dave Dupor any day of the week.

I should have bought from Dave in the first place and I would have been happy for the last three years instead of the last three hours.

Way to go Dave!

You got a customer for life and Yeah.. one day, I AM going to have you build me a bike!

If anybody wants a reference for Dave Dupor, send me an email at KeithETurner@Hotmail.com

Thanks again Dave!

If I could kick myself in the head, I'd be unconscious.

Keith Turner

Thank you Keith - your bike is just another example what people in this industry are building and selling! It could be an awesome bike if they took the time and did things correctly, problems would be to a minimum. Not everyone is a professional builder, and yes mistakes can be made, nobody is perfect, but some things are pretty obvious and they can lead to accidents, etc....Just some of the building technics are elementary, the wiring is subpar (home depot door bell wire - solid core), radio shack push buttons, no heat shrink, exposed leads uncovered in the frame, no hi low switch, no solid grounds, dropping the trans and motor on paint? no paint or powder removed so that the motor & trans have solid grounds? Trans mount holes bored out in two directions so that trans moves everywhere? The list can go on and on. This type of work makes me furious and I try to help everyone out - Keith can vouch for that. This industry is shrinking for many reasons and that is one. Without customer service, knowledge and passion - you have no business- simple!

Those kinds of builds are what hurt our industy, one guy has a bad apple and now they are all bad apples - that is not the case. If you do your research and really know what you want built, you can find that guy. I run into so many potential clients that say "yeah my friend has a custom, always broken doesn't start, leaks, oil, etc....." that does not mean every custom and then it becomes my job to prove him wrong, almost a challenge and to make a happy custom owner believe in his bike and ride with confidence.

Enough writing for me, Keith hope you are happy with the results and you have many photos of what NOT to do for your records!

Take care,
Dave Dupor

Buyer Beware! Seems to me you said the very same things about Manny and his crew. While purchasing a bike over the internet is a risky proposition from some "Masterbuildermanufacturerdude" in Florida, I'm pleased that you found someone with the appropriate skills to diagnose and repair/correct the many issues you had with the chopper. TK.

Hey Kieth,
Im in chicago as well and I have to say I have had the fortune of meeting dave in person and he is really a genuine, nice and proffesional guy. He did a buddy of mines pro street that really turned out nice. I think its pretty cool that we have a top builder representing in chicago let alone the midwest for that matter.

Yep.
You are right.
That was before the fucker quit on me again after a both a new battery and a new starter and a new sprocket which was chewed up because of a loos chain.
So, I took the bike to Dave and the shit he found is..well shit.
I'll post the invouice later.

Mannyh and Junior were great on the phone and did what they said they would do.
But the construction of the bike left a lot to be desired.
Still, I learned from the experience with ******* and Weston and what I learned is that I should of dealt with Dave in the first plae and I would be way ahead of the game instead where I am today.
I picked up the Dragon fromn Dave on Saturday and I've been blasting off ever since.
Put well over a hundred miles on it over the weekend.
Man!

I LOVE TO RIDE!!!!

Might not be a bad idea if you get a few thousand miles under your belt before telling everyone how wonderful your builder is.

Congrats Popular123...post up some pics and send me a P.M. and we'll hook up and roll out.
That is if fdsf is anywhere near by.

Hey Choppa!
I got my ride together now but still working out a cople of very minor kinks.
I've been blast'n off and roll'n hard and only cry'n a little bit.
I'll find out if it's all good or not in a couple of weeks when I run down to Chicago though.
Man!
Owning a chopper is almost as bad as owning a boat.
I've met a couple of other builders up here by me...Bud Dennis at Crown Customs in Park City Illinois, Big John at New Age Choppers in Beach Park,Illinois and of course DAVE THE ENGINEER in Lake Villa Illinois.

That fucking fuck called 'it' down in Naples couldn't hold a candle to any of these guys.
Jeez! Now I'm pissed off all over again!

I gotta tell ya, the guys on this forum...you included have been an educational bonanza for me and I appreciate all of you guys out there that offer insight, wisdow and advice and even the barefoot choppa who likes to jerk my chain.
I know you get a kick out of teasing me and I deserve it
Life is full of lessons. And, yeah, I've learned a few through my ordeals in chasing my dream.
