Is This Typical

I ordered some parts from a dealer in Calafornia. I used my Visa Card. The dealer charged me $20 credit card fee & $20 crating charge. All
i ordered was a Tire mounted to a rim.

Are these additional charges normal?

Was that the total charge or did he add shipping???

If no shipping was added look at it as a "High" shipping charge.

Crating is not an unreasonable charge if it was discussed at the time of sale, but I have never heard of someone charging a Credit card fee !!

I would rather pay a little extra and get my part shiny and new than crushed by UPS !!

Usually that fee would be absorbed by the cost of the product.

Call him up and ask.

Personally I wouldn't pay the $20 credit card fee, I would cancel my order over that. In some states I think it's illegal for someone to charge you to use a credit card, I would call your credit card company and ask them about it first. You also should have been told about any charges upfront, you could easily dispute the whole charge, return the rim and let credit card company deal with them? HTH Keep us posted about what happens.

That is BS man if he didn't tell you up front. Understand that 1 out of 10 people are crazy and the other 9 are crazy some of the times.

I would tell that guy to stick it if it's going to be like that. Tell him you will hire a mexican to ride your money over to him on a donkey before you pay 20 bucks for that crap.

I got charged $70 shipping on top of that for regular UPS shipping & prior to the sale we had at least a half dozen e-mails back & forth to discuss cost & this was never mentioned.

I was told I would pay shipping cost, I fully was aware of that but none of the other stuff. I think the shipping was high but I have nothing to compare it to.

The shame of it is that this guy is one of our very own right here in this club. I won't give his name until he is given a decent chance to respond.

I'll give you something to compare it to.

I had a motor, 80" stock evo, shipped in a custom made 3/4" plywood crate from Long Beach to NY and it cost me $77 + 40 for the crate !!!!!!!

I would call my credit card company and do a chargeback, I think thats what its called. No matter what you will not be responsible for the unauthorized charges.

That is bad business and PLEASE make sure you tell us who it is so we can steer clear !!!! People like that give legit dealers and Bike builders a bad name.

Good luck and no mercy for this scumbag !!

Most reputable shops repeat items and charges back to you at the end of the sale. If not ..ask for total and shipping cost.
