I know 1 thing, banning assault weapons and shortening clips does absolutely nothing but make ppl feel you're doing something. It may even make things worse because these nuts will turn to shotguns and theres no match for a shotgun in an enclosed area like a school.

The assault rifle ban is just the lefts way of appealing to the masses, who are heart broken, and looking for answers. They'll shamefully use this tragedy to push trough an agenda, which will make no difference,......but will make them look like saviors to the uneducated public.

Here's a link that I posted in the gun control thread,........it shows how rediculous the "assault rifle" title, even is.

Why Not Renew the “Assault Weapons” Ban? Well, I’ll Tell You… Kontradictions

The US has twice the crime rate as does the UK and Germany but we have 5 times the total population. So, crimes per 100000 people is much higher in those and other countries. So, the UK has more crimes per population with no private ownership of guns as does the US, where guns are STILL legal.

Wrong!!...I'm a Gunsmith, I live and work in England, Guns ARE legal in England,BUT they are HEAVILY licensed and regulated,
From Shotguns (Shotgun Certificate)
to Rifles (Section 1 Firearms Licence),
Pistols (Section 7 Licence,Owned by but kept at licenced ranges)
Black powder pistols (black Powder Pistol License)
banned firearms include
All Auto loading Rifles OTHER than .22.
All Centrefire Cartridge Pistols.
it aint perfict, it ain't Right, But WE ARE NOT TOTALY DISARMED!!!

after two Major events where children and adults alike, were killed by people in possession of Illegaly owned firearms and who had been reported to the police for various firearm related crimes,(the police DID NOT ENFORCE the laws that were in-place to prevent such crimes being commited)
through MIS-INFORMATION, both political partys used the events to gain Votes in elections,
no other reason than to get into power,
various government inquiries into the events stated that there was no reason to ban anything, just to enforce the laws that are already in place......
but this does not get anyone elected into power.......
if you don't want to lose you firearms like we sort of did here, the least you could expect is to put armed guards in schools, lock doors, enforce firearm laws,be open to mental health checks,........freedom is not free!!!...it has to be paid for and if the payment is that you spend 1/2 a day proving you are safe to hold and use firearms, I for one think that is a small and low price to pay....
I have nothing to hide but I know plenty who would not agree to this because they know they would not qualify....do I want them to have Guns?...NO I don't!!...
my Trade has been knocked left right up and down by assholes playing cowboys and indians to the point where I have even thought of giving my guns up!!.......that is not Right!!!
I know that guns don't kill, people kill,.....but for christ sake, don't make it so piss easy for a gutless piece of shit to arm himself with easy access weapons, very simple rules will work IF ENFORCED without effecting legitamate shooters!

Pete you are spot on and the only thing I can argue is we have background checks and such. The issue isn't this and this kid who just did this killing didn't buy his guns. He killed and stole the guns from his mother. There is no amount of checking that will fix that just like all the little hoodlums who buy guns illegally, there is no background check for buying guns off the "black market". Legal guns used in crimes is very minimal all this stuff is just kneejerk reaction and making people following the law and doing the right thing into criminals.

I must add that in 1996, the real heavy Licencing came into England, banning the centerfire pistols and auto-loading rifles,
since then Gun Crime has gone up something like 300% (I Dont have the exact figure, it may be lower but not by much!)
criminals started smugeling guns into the UK from all over the rest of Europe where gun laws are less heavy, mainly from ex-soviet states,Tokarev's makarovs, SKS & AK's came in on fishing boats and could be had for under $150 a piece,
There was NEVER a problem with LEGAL ownership.......
I personaly believe that if someone at the school was armed, and the place was secure, this event could have been controled, and thats even without getting into the mental health Issues,THAT is a very tricky part of it all to handle.....all in all a very sad time for everyone. my best wishes to all who have been effected by this.
