..just bought an original 59 Rochester Fuel Injection system complete with distributor for my project, get this..... from a 68 year old.........Gramdmother.....! She had lots of Corvette stuff in the garage from her (recently deceased) husbands colection. It is a fresh rebuild from Jack Podell http://www.jackpodellfuelinjections....jection-units/ and has never been installed after the restoration. Complete with air box and EVERYTHING.. I expected her to give me a (typical) price of $12,000.00,...... but we closed the deal for ......$3,900.00...!

I ended up talking to her for over an hour, and she was great. Her daily driver is a pristine 1958 (tri-power 348) Impala convertible, and her car for special occasions is a 1967 (numbers correct 425/427) corvette roadster

I'm pissing over the moon right about now....!

I'm SOOOOO damn pumped.

I'll put up pictures when it arrives.

AWESOM, AWESOM. AWESOM......!

Got my plug wires yesterday, put them on and finished adjusting the solid lifters. Old timers say to adjust the lifters to .024 initially and then adjust them up to .026 when the motor is warm. Did that and.... SHE RUNS......!

Had me a moment of PANIC when I first cranked it up, the C1 corvette has a clutch preload "helper spring" to keep a little tension on the throwout bering. A second after cranking it up, the helper spring let loose and the throwout arm started rattling like a steam tractor at full throttle. Clanking, and metal on metal rattling is NOT something you want to hear when first starting a freshly rebuilt motor. After I cleaned out my boxers and took stock, I used a small ratchet strap to hold the throwout in place. Needless to say, I am pretty pleased that the motor runs and sounds GOOD. She's not run in 48 years.

I'll try to put up a youtube when I can get a helper to record it.

Pretty happy...

It works. yesterday I had a bit of a surprise after cranking up my motor. A long-eared Bat came out of the roof vent, flew directly past my face, and lit (upside down) on the garage door.. I'm not superstitious at all, but I couldn't help but think that in some culture somewhere, seeing a Bat in daylight probably means something..

Cleaned up my shop today and added a video of the motor all fired up..

Got my vintage headers all cooked out and nickel plated, probably use them as garage art.

Stay embarrassed over the condition of my garage, began sorting things out and building shelves..

A place for everything, FINALLY..

Work bench finally organized

View from the doorway..

another view..

and finally, a short video of the motor running after 48 years...

Enjoy

I can't believe how quickly you have done all this work Kevin. Are you going to add the fuel injection later on?

Garage looks good, you shure didn't screw around when it came time to buy a bench grinder!

Off to India in 25 hrs.

Hey Bob, yep I'll add the FI after she is reliably up and running.

Haha, yea I bought out one of Central Texas College's shop inventories when the Army closed down its operation over here. I got a SUPER deal, about $5-6K of shop stuff for $400.00, the bench grinder was part of the deal. Still need to pick up the air compressor..

Good luck in the new job..!
