The Ford 9" is not a strong rear axle. The nice thing about them is they can easily be made into a bulletproof rear axle and due to the modular design, can be changed around relatively easily and have hundreds of options..
The Dana 60 is a much stronger rear axle right from the start.

So it is a Ford Rear - wow - that's cool about it being a good choice
but for Chevy? Does the ZL1 come with a Ford 9 inch too?

No,.....it's not made by Ford, it's made by Strange Engineering,.....like Pitbull already mentioned. And it's only in the COPO which is set up strickly for drag racing,...needing this 4 link type of rear set up.
The ZL1 is mainly set up for road racing, it has an all-independent suspension with third-generation Magnetic Ride shocks and a high-tech traction control system which is also found in the Corvette ZR1.

Frank - You are fooling yourself.
Now you're telling me that a World Products 302 - 4.6 - 460 whatever
is not a Ford motor.
Or if you want to get crazy with your logic a whole slew
of things aren't related to what we call DNA in the electronics world.
That is damn Ford rear in there - u can probably machine a part for it from
a Ford spec drawing.
call Strange tell them you want a Chevy 9 inch.
I get what you are saying so no need to repeat.

If you'd just back off and read the whole thread, I already said Ford started producing this type of rear end "after" DANA already did,.......so who copied who is irrelevant.....it's a design everyone uses.
To use your logic,.....try calling TCI and asking for a Ford Powerglide 2 speed automatic trans...........same thing. A Powerglide is available in the Cobra Jet Mustang factory drag car,.........but it's not a GM product even though it's a GM design,.........

alright lets simplify this.... its called ...AFTERMARKET......... usually better than the OEM... thay take off what the factory produced & improved its weaknesses... lots of companies make a replacement 9in rear end.. a copy of fords.. but better... same thing with transmissions, engines, suspensions, ect,,,ect,,,

Exactly,........and Ford had a good design because it made it easier and faster to work on and change gear set ups,.......(even though Dana did it first),.......but Ford's internals were junk, just like Chevy's 12 bolt, and Chrysler's 8 3/4 rear end. Gears broke, axles twisted, ect,..etc,...enter the aftermarket like Dana, Strange, Moser, Comp Engineering,...etc,..etc,....

Why can't we just step back and have a chuckle that the Camaro has a Ford rear in it?
It was about Camaro but OK Ford has a Chevy Powerglide in it.
What if Yamaha came out with a V-star with a S&S Evo in it?
You are gonna tell me Indian designed the V-twin and the S&S is aftermarket?
