Ok so tonight went to Berts Mega Mall and got into negotiations on a silver 2008 with a manual trans. They were asking 11,500 plus 9.75% tax, $350 dealer prep, 50 Doc fees. The bike has 3700 miles on it and everything looks like new including the tires, suspension, seats, etc.

I offered them 10 cash and they actually came back on the third try with 10,700 OTD. I think they might call me back this weekend and take 10 OTD for it. That's about $9100 for the bike, $900 for the sales tax and no doc fee, no prep fee.

The Spyder GS Roadster SM5 retailed new for $15,499.00
Currently NADA low retail is $9355
Average retail is $12,305
KBB suggested retail is $12,475

Can't find the wholesale numbers anywhere

What do you guys think?

lol, Bert's is fricken crazy. I used to live up in the Canyon just a few miles away from the old Berts. When we were kids it was a motorcycle junk yard.

Yeah, I've purchased a couple bikes from Berts when I was younger. It's really a mega mall now but the prices are out of control. It seemed to me they probably aren't moving many units these days and have enormous overhead.

I tossed them a lowball cash offer and man we're only off by a few bucks...it still might be mine by next week so we'll see...

You mean they didn't take it?

Didn't that place used to be a K-mart? and then they even added to that?

That family owns all kinds of stuff around the valley. Pro One, Shidners body and paint, Berts...seems like I'm forgetting something.

I talked to them today, they're still dickin with me over $200. The funny thing is I called a private party ad for the same thing locally. He told me he took his to Berts to trade in and they offered him 7k.

Meanwhile they're trying to convince me that if they sell to me at 10k they're losing money. My answer was "so what, im not here to help you make money" but realisticly I don't mind if they make a reasonable profit, I just want a fair deal.

Man I hate negotiating... For $200 bucks I would get pissed and tell them to fuck off... Everyday that thing sits there they are losing money.. A 10 grand deal and we are squabling over $200????? I don't get it.. seems like I give somebody that $200 and make a happy customer that comes back and tells all his friends how I did him right or dick him on $200 and he tells everyone who ever asks about the bike how much of a dick I was but hell what do I know....

If they are playing around for 200, your best bet is to tell them you know you had the 10200, but this week you had to cover on a build, so now you got 9800, if they wanna keep loseing money keeping it on the show floor.

Yup unbelievable, now it's a matter of pricipal...I could easily pay the extra $200 but why bother? If I don't buy this one, I'll buy the next. Everyday it sits there it definitely costs them...well...I'll still be here if they eventually want to sell it.
