Boycott Exxon/Mobil completely to cause price war will it work?

Hello,

I obtained a e-mail/change mail that was kind of interesting that if consumers join together to boycott Exxon Mobil for a long peroid of time it was cause a price war that will circle round, and round. What are your thoughts, will it work?

It should but I read somewhere that the government has regulations in place that force area gas stations to stay in the same price range.
In other words if station X is selling for $3.50 station Y can not sell for $2.99

If that is true then so much for fair competative pricing.

They want consumers to boycott only one gas company for a long peroid. They encourage it to Exxon/Mobil because they are the largest. It will cause them to loss market share, stock price will drop, and in turn are forced to do take action.

This is a problem with the idea.

We would need to know all the places that exxon supplies.

It would be interesting to see what the cause, and effect would be? I will be doing this? It will cost me anything, or disturb my life style because here we have 4 or 5 gas stations grouped together in anyone area. I just have to pick the driveway.

The way I read the message is boycott there stores. I believe they are referring to BP, Exxon, and Mobil retailers. Those are the Exxon franchise names off the top of my head I think of when I hear Exxon.

doesn't exxon/mobile produce something like 70% of all our gas? I heard a number one time I just can't remember, although it was a majority of our oil/fuel. That being the case most of the other no-name stations are buying their gas from guess who....exxon/mobile. We'll NEVER be able to anything but pay what that say we have to pay! I hope y'all are not sending that spam mail to 10 of your freinds like the e-mail i got was asking. all that does is put you and 10 of your freinds on more spam mail list....

Boogeyman,

Could you send me some money to just pay? I think I read that at current prices it will cost the most households $300 more a month in transportation.

I wish I could send you some.... I hear if you send 10 of your freinds that e-mail bill gates will give you some of his fortune though... it's true!

seriously though, i feel your pain and wish there was something we could do, but like i said i think exxon/mobile is a "manopoly" so wherever you get your gas, it most likely came from exxon/mobile regardless of what the sign at the station says.

If we all want to make a difference we need to talk more people into riding.

My Big Dog gets around 33 mpg compared to my GMC Deisel at around 16 mpg

only thing is, the oil execs say they want to make "x" ammount of $ this qtr. in the mean time people are buying hybrids and riding they're bikes more and not buying gas from certain stations and all of the sudden the oil execs are getting further away from their projected "x" amount of $ for the qtr so what do they do? they raise the prices and gouge the people who still "have" to buy the usual ammount of gas for whatever reason.....theres no end to it, they're greedy bastards and they have us by the short hairs. I agree 100% in doing whatever you have to do to save money and gas, i'm just trying to say they'res nothing we can do to stop the price gouging...IMO
