VROD based chop
Well...here we go.
I've been looking to build a shop bike for a while now. I really just wanted to do a little Sporty so I could knock it out quickly between the paying jobs. I started collecting parts; even picked up a complete '93 Sportster minus engine for a donor. I was having trouble finding a suitable motor for the project then one day I saw an ad on Craigslist that said something to the effect of, '01 1200cc Harley motor $550. Well, I give the guy a call and it doesn't take too long to figure out that he really doesn't know what he's talking about. Turns out it's a '02 1130cc revolution motor.
Now, I really don't want to get into doing something as ridiculous as building a bike with this motor so, I figure for $550 I can make a little money off it and keep looking for something else. Right! I start thinking about it. The only Revo based custom I can think of is the one that Matt Hotch built. Maybe it would be cool to use it. I hop on the 1130cc.com forum and start asking questions. Mostly, those guys don't get it. The wheels keep turning in my head. I start to dream about it. I think it might be my destiny to build this thing. I run the idea by some of my buddies. They don't really know what to say; they just stare at me and say "uh-huh...ok".
So...it has begun! I don't have anything scheduled through New Year. Well, except for entertaining family and friends. Time to get started...
The motor in question

A sketch of the general feel of the bike. There's a bunch of other sketches and notes but, that stuff is Top Secret.

Motor up on the jig. Neck angle set to 32 degrees. Frame height should be about 29". I assume the road surface at the bottom of the two parallel 2x3's which puts the bottom of the frame 5" from the ground for ride height. Think I'll have to remote the oil filter.
[IMG] [/IMG]
Downtube notched and in position. I like to use the yardsticks to get a good visual reference. I think we're pretty close on the backbone but, I won't bend it up until after I rough in the bottom tubes all the way back to the axle plates. The tube sizes will be 1.625 & 1.25 DOM
[IMG] [/IMG]
So that's it for today. If it gets above 40 degrees I should have some decent progress for tomorrow. It's not supposed to be cold in Texas!

Are you out of your mind??
You'll never be able to sell it. The chopper guys won't dig it - the V Rod guys won't dig it
I'll give you $575 for it
You can chalk it up to a temporary lapse of judgement
$575 CASH!!!! - and you can regain your dignity

Do it. I had a V-Rod with apes and always wanted to chop it down to look Old School.

Found your thread and I like it. Seems similar to my Quadzilla project on Metric builds thread. I used a V4 HONDA.
This is builders LOG never noticed it before. Looks like I will be visiting a lot more.
