Ultima 6 Speed pushrod

OK I have a Ultima 6 speed tranny and it obviously does not come with the pushrod. Does anyone know what part # I need? Also do I also need a throwout bearing? If so which part # for it or can you get a kit with both parts?

Thanks,
Ron

37088-90 should be close but i can double check that in the morning. The mind is the first to go. Its a stock pushrod for a 87-99 Softail tranny any dealer should stock them. The throwout bearing is usaully in the tranny already.

edited to correct the number 37088-90 is the correct number

Cool, thanks John. You say it should have the throwout bearing, are you able to see it with the cover off while hooking the cable to the ramp?

Yes it is ready to go. all you need is the push rod. I just went through all that as a matter of fact just put my cable on last nite. Had the cover off then. Only problem I have right now is the damn thing will not go into gear and it is pissing me off.

Ron, I got mine from the harley shop. They had two sizes, 10" and 12" I think? I think it's the longer of the two that you need. I just asked them for a 99 softail pushrod. Shit, they where so cheap you could just get one of each. The Harley scematic showed the pushrod having two or three pieces, the long rod and the end piece or pieces. All you need is the long rod. The end pieces in are already in the pressure plate and clutch ramp.

BTW- you have that thing about ready to start? You gotta be close.

Yes you should be able to see the throwout bearing it is on the end the oil slinger, or the short pushrod. Some aftermarket trannies do not have an oil slinger but the all have a short pushrod that the throwout bearing clips on to.

Not being a dick here but where is your service manual? You guys would be surprised how much easier your builds will go with a book with pictures. I would suggest a 95-99 softail book for most builds. Its the best $50 bucks you will ever spend on your bike.

Ultima 6 Speed Transmissions

Ron - It is a standard Harley Davidson pushrod. Any HD Shop will have them in stock. Remember if you are going with a chaine drive you will need to change out the spacer and the oil seal.

Cheers,
Washington Choppers

I've got a spare clutch pushrod if you need it. Never opened of used. I got ansy and bought from from HD and then a week later the guy I got the transmission from sent me one. It's $11.50 at Harley shop.

I have the same transmission at you and I didn't need the spacer and seal. I bought a PMI Sprocket and it's not necessary for those. The Ultima's are considered 94-99 HD replicas (maybe bad choice of word). Only pre94 transmissions need the seal and spacer. I just went through this so I am very familiar.
