it's been a few years since i changed my sportie from a belt to chain (after belt snapped and left me stranded

). I would highly recommend a lockplate, even if not the original. You don't want that thing coming loose. Meganut is what i used on most of my chopper builds. can get them from Jims. i know they fit the pbi sprockets.
i don't remember any issue with the seal, but it seems like i did install a different spacer behind the sprocket. Take that back, the first seal i installed leaked because the spring in the back came off the rubber during install, so watch that. have you aligned your front and rear sprockets yet? make dang sure they're right on so you don't add undue stress to your chain from misalignment.
I also had to trim the sprocket cover because my bike was so low it was hitting it. i just chopper a little off the top for clearance.
