Buell XB timing

Hey guys, I need help setting up my ignition. It's the first time trying to start this 1200. I have a S&S super E and Ultima 53-642. I had the Bare Knuckle Cup but it was damaged so I ordered the same part number off ebay that was stamped on the cup, Daytona Twin Tec 32402-83. It's my first time working on carb. For some weird reason it fires/cracks out of the carb I'm lost lol.

Sounds like your coil wires are wrong, swap blue and pink wires or what ever applys and see what happens also check for leaks at the carb and manifold, screw fuel mixture in till it seats then out 1/34 turns all should be good then fine tune,. good luck mate.

I swap them around few times and nothing. I've tried static timing. There are sparks on the plugs.

Just ordered another cup from BKC. I hope it works out. I know a guy from UK re-indent his cup to adjust the spark/timing on BKC's cup since he said it didn't work. I guess I'll find out on Friday when I get it.

what you might have to do is....
1)...get the timing mark in the centre of the timing hole on the front cylinder compression stroke.
2)...place the cup on the end of the cam with the indent locating into to cam.
3)...when you install the pickup modual, make sure that the Ignition light goes out as you rotate the modual.when the light goes out, tighten it all up and you should be good to go....
the next bit I learnt by myself......
The cup didn't Index into the correct timing position, and I had to flatten the factory location dimple, and by eye locate the cup to the point where it would turn the timing light off.when twisting the modual.
I found that this was about 20* out from the factory setting as the pick up modual would not fit the XB nose cone in the correct position.
when you find a point that the cup and modual ARE in Sync with each other.you then, using a fine but flat ended punch,re-dimple the cup in the correct position so that you can get the ignition timing light to go out and have adjustment left or right on the modual.
I hope this makes sense to you...if not I'll try to explain better..

just seen ya last post....yea, it was me that had to do it....hope it works ok Fella, and greetings from England...(Home of FAST Buells!!... hahahaha)

Theres a sockethead plug (should be on the right case) you pull to see the timing mark on the crank assembly. you gotta be on tdc on the frnt cyl.
and 2 is putting the gold colored rotor on the shaft with the indent in its notch.

Take your sparkplugs out, put it in 5th gear and turn the rear wheel till u see a timing mark in the timing hole. if you have your frnt rocker cvr off, you can watch both valves, when there both shut your close.

you MUST set the timing when on the Front cylinders compression stroke.

with the timing plug removed, as you rotate the motor, and as you are getting to Top Dead Center ,you will see through the timing hole a deep line machined into the flywheel.

when this line is dead center of the hole, you will be at TDC and at this point is where the motor must have the timing set at.

now, instal the rotor cup onto the shaft in the nose cone of the motor.

next instal the pickup/timmer modual and gently do up the two screws that hold the modual in but not so tight that you cannot twist the modual left or right (Clockwise or anti-clockwise)

as you twist the modual clockwise the static timing light on the modual should go out.at this precise point do the screws up tight and your ignition should be correct.

IF!!..the light neither comes on or off you may have to remove the modual and cup.
with a punch gently hammer flat the locating dimple off the back side of the cup.this dimple locates the cup on the end of drive in the nose cone, and by looking at the position of the pickup modual,re fit the cup at a diferant point untill you are able to get the static timing light to go out.
mark the cup where the new locating dimple should be, remove the cup and using a thin flat ended punch ,re dimple in the corect location.re-fit and re-check that you have the timing mark in the correct position, and that the cup when fitted still is within adjustment to let the light go out..
tighten every thing up and you should be good to go

No luck. I centered the notch on TDC, adjusted the module 'till the light went off and swap the pink and blue wire couple times. I'm getting fuel and sparks.... I didn't have to notch the cup....

Gold! P/N 32402-83. Daytona Twin Tec 32402... I should get the one from BKC this weekend. Just ordered one today. Kind of fed up, my electronic switch box caught on fire when I was trying to start it.
