Sportster Jockey shift

Does anyone make a jockey shifter for a pre '91 Sportster? La briola makes one for model years 91-up but I can't find one for a 1990.......any ideas? Who can make a good custom clutch cable? I think if I could get the clutch cable.......I could fab the rest myself.

not sure if it is the right way to do it, but i knew someone who just cut the clutch cable, then shortened the jacket, and soldered the now shortened clutch cable back together. the foot clutch just needs to be able to pivot to actuate the clutch. could cut the stock foot shifter arm in half then weld a longer arm onto it and bend it/tweak it to your liking.

if it is an older one though and the shifting is on the right side, you'll need to make a contraption to get the shift arm over to the left. or grow another hand.

just my very shitty .02 cents.

Have you tried calling Rick? He might be able to help you make his kit work on your bike. He's a super-cool guy. I'd give him a call at the shop: 303-433-8785

I started making this last spring, basically just fucking around in the garage. Not sold on the idea of a jockey with 16" apes so I never installed it.

Used parts from an old axle to make a shouldered mount for the shifter. Welded some standoffs to the plate, pretty much the same idea as the briola but not 400 bucks.

86-03 sporties are all pretty much the same. I think the primary covers are slightly different but the internals are basically the same with the exception of 4 and 5 speed trannys. The kits for the 91 should fit and work on your bike.

How does the jockey shift work? Do you have to remove the clutch line? I was thinking about getting one but wanted to make sure how it works.

Thanks

Mike
