Well the UPS dropped off an X-mas present today! couple days late, but i'm still pretty f-n stoked! Had to run out to the shop and throw it up against the bike to check it out in all of its leeeengthy glory.

Got my frame jig pretty well finished up, got my black plumbing pipe ordered (*joke*) and just about ready to start cutting up some sh*t! Frame will be out 3 and down 1 or 2, single downtube. what ya think? too long?!

Springer upon closer inspection is stamped Columbus Custom Manufacturing, C-bus OHIO! how cool is that, time to do some research...

Got a little work done on the rear fender tonight, if you look back, you can see how far off the radius is on the fender. Started using the 2x4 method, and it was working but it was slow going, and it was hard to tell how much movement you were getting, but it was gettin work hardened so i knew it was moving. Decided i would anneal the metal to get it back to a workable condition.

acetyline only, leaves a sooty layer, add oxygen, get a good heating flame and burn all the soot off.

Then chucked the fender in the vise, clamped the side and then pulled on the other side to achieve the same effect that the 2x4 method uses. Worked my way around a few times.

Getting better, annealed again, more bending, and here we are.

Fits real nice both radius and profile with the tire. using the vice left a bit of scaring on the metal, but nothing significant. A little dolly work and it should be good to go. Gonna take about an inch out of the center of the fender so that it matches the width better, but i'm p'retty happy with how its turning out so far.

the fleet:

got some more work done last night. Here's the fender after the first cut, with tape to mark the width to be removed.

little more hackin' action

Then some grinding to clean up the mating surfaces.

couple tacks and check the fit.

man i need to take the real camera to the shop, close up of weld, not bad for a snot box on sheetmetal. Obviously needs ground and smoothed, and probably a little more weld in a couple spots, but not bad for the first time.
