And I thought removing the exhaust was a challenge

Here's where I'm stuck (until I get the right tool). The two allen bolts on the right side holding the throttle body on. This one is on the rear cylinder.

The corresponding hex bolt on the left side looks like it should be easy.

a 5/32?

I can't get anything in here. It seems about a 5/32 allen with a 45 bend in it is the only way I can get in there. I 1st need to determine the right size.

movin on to other things

I guess I'll start draining my fluids and so on. can't believe that's all I've got done this past weekend. I'm surprised at all that "stuff" (that's comin' off). The good part is livin in my shop, I can go out in my skivz in the middle of the night to wrench if I want to. And my dog never complains, he's just as happy (if not more so) when I come back in. OK, I 'spose I'll get back to it. Anyone know what bit I need to get at those throttle body allen bolts?

Cool MSO is on the way

BTW I spoke with John from ProStreetChopperz.com today. He said he'll have my MSO coming TODAY (or tomorrow?) - as long as I get it, I'm in no rush yet. He also put me on the right track for what to do about my John Holmes axle that came with my frame. He says no problem, I just need to have my axle turned down form 1" to 25mm so it will fit my stock PM rear wheel. (Same thing for using one on the front, may have to bore out my legs to accommodate the 25mm rear axle). John also gave me some other tips & things I'll need to do (when converting to carb, etc.). He also has other parts he sells, some of which I may be able to use. I still need a bettery box, oil bag, r. fender, etc. for example. I think So things are goin well, albeit slow. I'm itchin to finish the Buell debuild so I can begin work on my new horse. I'm off to the hangar. L8R

Cool MSO Received

I finally received my MSO yesterday from Wendy @ http://prostreetchopperz.com/ in the mail. Now I have to find someone with stamps to stamp the vin # into my frame. Does anyone know if I am allowed (in CA) to stamp my VIN wherever I want? Or MUST I put it on the neck? - I haven't been able to get my intake manifold bolts out yet, I also haven't had a chance to work on it much this last 2 weeks. I just got a new plane, & I have had to make room for it in my hangar, etc. - so I have nothing pictureworthy from my bike right now, however - I'll be back at it hard this weekend: mission; finish pulling motor from donor.

Cool Ordered the HD special tool

Sorry for the delay - I've been fightin' & fiddlin' trying to get at my intake manifold bolts - prolly used a bottle of propane bending allens around trying to get the right angle tool to reach the bolts. Never could get it right. 'Tard factor +9 I guess... Anyhow, today I ordered the correct HD special tool for 25$. (At Guideras HD in Yuba City, the best service department I know. URL = http://www.guidera.net/ ) Might be a day or two til it's in, but I'll be able to be back on my debuild this weekend it looks like. WooHoo!
