Looks like a fun bobber, those forward controls crack me up, what are those automotive connecting rods? I have built many bobbers like that. FYI. If the rods in that box of parts are the rods your going to run, make sure you polish the all the nicks out of the beams, The nicks create stress risers and the rod can brake at that point. Alloy rods are nice but you have to treat them with care. Oh are you going to run a 46 tooth sprocket in the rear?

yeah the controls are Ford Con Rods, this was my first build and was kinda theme oriented at the time, i HATE them now and just trying to decide if i'm gonna make some real fowards or put the mids back on.
Yes those are the rods i'm gonna run, started polishing them last night actually. Yes it has a 46t rear

I made a real nice set of controls for my first chopper that I built 34 years ago, I am however in the process of updating the rear brakes to disc so I will be adding a master cylinder mount to the forward controls.
You will like the gear combination you chose. With the 5 speed it will be easy to drive in town and still roll out nice on the road. You should also run the Avon 500S-16 rear tire, this tire is 1" taller then a MT90-16 and helps a lot out on the road and will lower engine RPM's to help save fuel too.

Here you go, This link will take you to a page that has a very good chart with allot of good information on overall motorcycle tire sizes.
http://www.steelthundercc.com/tiresizes.html
I don't think your going to like that 140 tire back there. These Triumphs don't have room for anything more then a 5" wide tire without the chain eating up the sidewall. I suppose you could widen the frame and run a jack-shaft to kick the chain out past the sidewall. I guess its in what you the builder wants to achieve.

yeah the 140 is a bit too big, i laced the wheel offcenter and have about an 1/8 in chain clearance, it rides well though. If i hadn't already bought the tire i would get a 5.10-16 firestone in a heartbeat, so as soon as this one wears out thats the plan.

Oh yea! Your doing good work, The beam looks nice and clean, Did you use a scotch bright pad on them? The covers always shine up nice on the old British bikes, It's that pure virgin aluminum, it really looks nice when cleaned up. You can buy that triangular plate new and replace it as long as you have the cover off.

yeah i know, i'm pretty happy with it so far, i started with 180 grit paper and worked to 800 then hit it with the wheel. The covers had some deep ass scratches and took quite a bit of work. The rods i used 400 then 600 then 1500.
