hardcore Norton updates

here are some more pics of my norton project.

I've done most of the motor mounts today, here is a better close up of the Spade Motor mount plates I made to replace the trianglular shaped commando head steady brackets.

I still have to make the axle plate and then i can do the fun stuff, (cut up the rear fender and make a short billy lane style sissy bar.)

here is a wide shot.

my seat pan is going to pretty small, but that's what i planned. I can't wait to make it a rolling chassis so i can assemble all the little things and get it ready for paint and chrome.

yeah, it don't look menancing huh?

well stock the norton commando does 122 miles per hour. as far as i know, that's fast enough for me.

plus it's a high compression model. It does look weird because it's a british twin so it's side by side and not V-Twin.

what's Ironic is that It was British V-twin Airplanes that first gave rise to the V-twin design later used on motorcycles. (norton is british)

For awhile the norton commando was one of the fastest stock bikes you could buy, and if you've never heard the sound of a long stroke norton engine purr, then you've missing out on life.

looks fucking badass Odessa. I love the tank, totally cool stretched. thats the tank i want on my chop (well something like it). what kind of bars are you putting on? without sounding too much like a dork, i think it would look badass with the prison bars from Choppers Inc. Not saying you should buy them, you could probably make them for cheaper. but i think the wide triangle style would be cool.

looks fucking badass odessa. you got my seal of approval (not that you needed it though

thanks dude, I'm pretty happy so far!!!

my buddy Jim is making me a custom Oil Tank round chopper barrel type.

and I'm making a spade plate to go on the side of it to match the top motor mounts. He'll tig it up and i'll blend it in so it will look 3 dimensional.

I was thinking about actually making the barrel oil tank shaped exactly like a spade. but that is beyond my skills and time, and beyone anyone around here except Billy lane down the road from me. but he has a one year back order on stuff and i can't afford him anyway.

thanks guys,

yeah, alot of bikers are coming into our shop since it's bike week (we're near melbourne and daytona)

and when they walk in my boss starts to show them around our huge shop thinking they'll ask about the usual (tour glide frames, softails, etc, all harley stuff.)

but as soon as they see the norton hardtail that sits there now they stop ask what the hell is that?

I love how puny the engine looks at first glance, I love tricking people!!! to people who don't really know, they think it's like a triumph 650. but it's a norton 850 and will put out about 75 horsepower to the rear wheel, that's good enough for me.

awesome.

are you a big Tolkein fan, or you just like that ugly picture>?

Lord of the Rings is the only fiction i've ever enjoyed, and it's so well written with so much detail and history, (he made an entire elven language for the book) that it's as if it really could of happened.

I think the battle seens in his book kick so much ass because he started writing about MIddle Earth while he was in the Trenches of World War 1.
