Clinical and Health Psychology

It is one of the most famous areas of psychology, if not the largest, and consists of research and interventions aimed at more or less serious psychological problems that affect people's quality of life. If psychological disorders are associated with psychiatric disorders, clinical psychologists will work with other healthcare professionals to diagnose, prognosticate, intervene, and manage psychiatric disorders.

People belonging to this specialty of psychology offer a service called psychotherapy, the form, approach and procedures of which can vary greatly depending on the psychological orientation and the tools available.

Sexology's specialization in psychology is concerned with the application of psychology to address issues of sexuality. It is a branch of psychology derived from clinical and health psychology, but focused on treating the sexual life of patients.

Although the psychology of sexology is particularly useful for treating sexual dysfunctions, it can also play a very important role in improving the sex life of people who do not suffer from such disorders.

Forensic psychology

A forensic psychologist collects, analyzes, and presents psychological evidence that will be taken into account during a trial. Also, the branch of forensic psychology is associated with the creation of psychological profiles of criminals to aid in search and capture.

Relationships and family psychology

This branch of psychology can be understood as a specialization within clinical psychology that also takes elements from social and community psychology. Focuses on conflict resolution in families, classes are usually held in groups.

The nervous system is the basis of operations for everything related to behavior, emotions and feelings, as well as the ability to think and communicate, so it is normal that one of the branches of psychology is oriented towards neuroscience.

Neuropsychology is especially useful in the study of brain injuries, malformations, dysfunctions, and diseases that affect the functioning of the nervous system.

Educational and Developmental Psychology

The purpose of this is to apply methods and strategies so that learning occurs in the most satisfying way.

Moreover, educational psychology understands the concept of "education" in the broadest sense. This applies not only to what young people do in school, but also to all areas in which learning plays a leading role, be it curricula. In fact, more and more importance is attached to the need to view education as a network that is carried out far beyond schools and universities.

Social Psychology

Focuses on the study of how the presence of other people (real or imagined) affects the mental processes of a person.

sports psychology

The branch of sports psychology is focused on the implementation of strategies aimed at ensuring that the psychological and physical performance of athletes leads them to improve their results, both in terms of their individual achievements and in terms of their participation in teams. Psychologists who choose this branch intervene in many processes that are addressed from the point of view of clinical and educational psychology.

Community Psychology

Community psychology can be understood as a derivative of social psychology focused on research and intervention in issues that affect specific communities and local groups of people.

Basic and experimental psychology

Basic psychology is a branch of psychology focused entirely on the study of the general psychological processes involved in human behavior. It is focused on studying the typical psychological processes of a mature and healthy person, identifying trends and patterns that characterize the entire human population.
