build and sell, this one i was going to keep for awhile and take to shows to
park next to my 68 SS elcamino, it has less than 100 miles. i guess i kept
it alittle to long. if big bear would fix this and make it look like it does right
now with smoothed welds and nice color blend without cost too me i would
be fine with driving 8 hours to big bear to have it repaired, and that is 8 hours
each way 2 times once to drop off and once to pick up.
sounds like big pain in ass!!!! anybody want to buy it???? hell i dont know
what to do.

I own a 2003 Big Bear Venom Chopper with S&S 124 with Baker 6 and Top Fuel BDL with Bearing Support. The only trouble I had was a bent valve in motor which is another story and a cracked swing arm from a self induced problem and not by bike design issue.

In November A guy won a lawsuit against BBC for 1/2 a million dollars for injuries he got when his bike kinda fell apart on him while he was riding
Luck of the draw, you may get a good today and a bad one tomorrow.

Firstly Lobo I'm glad to hear that you weren’t seriously injured in your crash, sorry about the bike being toast. Secondly you are VERY mistaken, ALL 04 and 05 and some 06 Venom, Sled, and Devils Advocate choppers and prostreets are in the recall! In total there are 1152 bikes in the recall for the afore mention years and models. My bet is that most of the one's being sold have NOT had the recall done and you can't get the recall done now as Big Bear Choppers is out of business unless you’re willing to pay for it out of pocket yourself. And Golfish is not correct in that there have been several cases where when the recall was performed the welds were found to be bad. In one case Scottm had his welds x-rayed on his Venom prostreet and they told him NOT to ride his bike home as the welds were that bad! The fact that Big Bear Choppers is now out of business also lowers the over worth of a used one and I would never trust the welds on the rest of the bike even after having the recall done. If I were you I'd be looking for something other than a used Big Bear Chopper.

Also, according to documents submitted to the NHTSA regarding the recall Big Bear Choppers estimated that at least 41% of all the frames in the recall have the defective welding. That gives you a 59% chance that the frame welds are okay, are you willing to bet your life on a 59% chance? Just saying.
