BTW MechWerks posted this on one of the other threads about this and I thought it should also be posted here.

I still maintain that a dealer applied fix short of grinding out the welds and totally re-welding will only extend the failure time. A gusset will spread the load in that area (as a gusset will do) but will not fully take the load off of the potentially defect weld.
It also still does not address the question that if the neck welds were not properly executed (chamfer and weld root) that the rest of the welds on these frames may be at risk of failure.

Hey MechWerks,
I could be wrong but I think from the way I read the recall instructions that they are saying to grind out the welds and totally re-weld the neck back on. The two main questions that everyone here has been asking are, how many dealerships have the knowledge, expertise and equipment to do that, and if it is re-welded correctly then why the need of a gusset? Also from what I have learned in here of gussets and gusset design it seems to me that the gusset BBC is purposing to be installed may actually concentrate stress in that area.
Would you mind commenting on the above to give us laymen a better understanding of what's involved with all of this.
Thanks,
Larry

As of about 20 minutes ago, my local dealer said no way to the repair. They said to send it back to BBC. Now what???
