Shipping a frame ... Advice?
How do you guys do this? I'm looking at a frame in Texas and I'm in Illinois. I don't think UPS will do it... It's about 85lbs. Another redneck rigid. Fed-ex do stuff like this? Advice? What's an estimate on cost?
I saw fog hollow UPS a bare frame and it kinda looked like it took a beating... lots of scrapes.
Any advice?

I was going to ship a frame from Connersville to Chicago and the place across the street from me wanted $127 and some change as a UPS drop-off point!! I said no way! I took the frame to the local (next town) UPS depot and it cost $43 and some change!
Best bet use the depot!
My Kraft Tech frame was shipped from Riverside, California, and UPS delivered it without a smudge! All depends on how well they pack/wrap it up!

My Santee frame came via UPS with just some bubble wrap around the neck, axle plates, and lower legs. It was fine.

Great advice.... Thanks. These Redneck frames are a little beefy. I'm not sure they'll fit in a bicycle box. I hope I can convince them to spend a little time wrapping. I like the bubble wrap picture.
It has the oil tank and battery tray. I think I should have them throw that stuff in a separate box.
thanks!

Fed Ex will ship for sure. I hyave gotten UPS but frames typically are unwrapped if they come ups. Another pretty cool thing I have discovered is uship.com
You just put what you are shipping on there and guys send you bids. I shipped 5 motorcycles last week and got everything settled in less that 24 hours...I was amazed.

Haven't used it yet, but I guess FASTENAL stores are getting into the freight business. I was looking to ship my quad I have for sale and the guy told me they will ship anywhere there is a FASTENAL store.
I guess their delivery trucks are going all over the place half empty so they figure why not pack some freight to make up for the gas? They hub-and-spoke all over the country so I guess it could be a good deal, worth a look?

I have shipped 2 in the last few months, one with a swing arm and one with out. Both of them through ups, I took the swing arm and the oil tank off and shipped them in box. Both frames were shipped unwrapped, and both were fine when they arrived.
