Thoughts and prayers to you and your dad, B...lost my brother in May 2008 to brain tumour, dad to stomach cancer Dec 2008...it's hard to watch, and worse to live through.

For those that aren't familiar with it, November is actually now well known as "Movember", at least here in Canada...all sponsorship proceeds go to prostate cancer awereness campaigns. Like it was said in htis thread, early detection is key. Few minutes of discomfort a year to save your life seems a fair trade-off...

Hey Big B,

Sorry to hear what your Pops is going through along with your family. My Pops is fighting the same fight right now. It was detected early so it looks good for beating the cancer.

Although unpleasant I've already had mine checked & will continue yearly due to what is going on with my Pops.

My families prayers are with you.

PACO

Sorry to hear this Big B - you and your father have my prayers.

A simple PSA Test (blood) is all that is required for those that are leery about the digital exam. It costs roughly 50 bucks and is worth the time - it checks for prostate specific antigen - and lets the doctor know if you might be at risk. It happens to men in their late 30's and early 40's every day - so don't think it is an old man's disease. If you have a family history, get checked.

On another note - I was diagnosed with Melanoma when I was 37 - This is a cancer that puts you in the grave in 3 months if it is left unchecked. I go to biker rallies and see dudes walking around burnt to shit, obviously no sunblock and just sun-beaten. I go to get moles cut out every 6 months to avoid death - if you have a doubt about a mole, go get it checked. If you are riding in the sun, wear sunblock - your forearms, head and ears are out there for the whole ride - protect them.

If you are in doubt - there is no doubt, look up a dermatologist and get checked. It saved my life.

Godspeed,
Milenko

My dad passed away today. I was fortunate to be there to witness his final peaceful breaths. Sad, but happy to see the suffering is over.

Remember, get yourself checked.

Sorry for your lost, glad that you could spend that time at the end with him. Guy don't put off getting checked. Had prostate cancer in 07, found during a regular physical blood work. Had no clue and my glisson score was 7.5 at that time. Almost 5 years cancer free and still riding. It's definitely worth the time and effort.
