i thought about that too...if he didn't by the parts from them and if they didn't do the mockup, they probably didn't want any part of it.

$80 an hour x 100 hours = $8000
more tools than you'll need to do the job = $500
pride, joy, and stories of building it = priceless

The actual build was done from the get go by the builder, and paid along the way with progress made on the build.. Now that the bike is close to being done, looks like his trying to take me fro a ride..

Some people mistake kindness for weakness..

Was there a contract for him to build you a bike? Or did you have a time and material arrangement? How does he do the mock-up and not complete the build?

How long did it take him to mock it up?

Well I gotta say 100 hours for a shop is rediculous. However, 20 hours seems a bit short, not saying it couldn't be done but.......realistically, I would think about 40 hours would be closer to the ballpark with wiring, oil and hydraulics, all the little shit that can add up.

that should have been agreed upon before he even started as part of the build. unless u changed a bunch of stuff along the way, he should have told u up front. parts + labor + paint = this. $80 an hour seems standard everywhere in the US since that's harley's service rate. 100 hours seems long. took me 40 for f/a the first time by myself. since they did the mock-up, and they do this shit for a living, I would think they could do it in less, even if it were a more complicated build (mine was a bbc venom prostreet, by the way, I hope u checked all ur welds, but I digress...).

How can you forget the tattoos and hookers? That's the best part!!!

I just got done rebuilding my bike. Had the thing completly apart, after I made some changes. But the bike was ridden all last summer. I didn't do much. And still putting it together from nothing, it took me all of two weeks after work. But that is with wiring everything up...which was half the total time. Maybe 25 hours all together.

I agree. 20 is a little short. Just the wiring can take a while to do it right.

If these guys are "real" builders it should take a lot less than 20 hours considering they did the mock up. Wiring only scares guys that don't know what their doing or haven't done it much.
