Random gasket ?

I took my pipes off to have them re-coated, just got them back and want to know if it's really necessary for me to go out of my way to pick up new header gaskets before I put them on tonight. When I took them off, no gasket material at all was stuck to the pipes so I'm thinking it should be ok. Or am I horribly wrong and they will leak like hell without new gaskets. Thanks

while i have to admit i've reused those gaskets in the past it is a bad idea. any exhaust leak can lead to problems you don't want. a major leak can ruin valves. for 5 or 6 bucks it's always better to replace them and be safe in my opinion. good luck.

I also recommend spreading on a little high-temp black silicone. After bolting everything up tight, use your finger and a bit of paper towel to clean off any excess that squeezed out. Leave to dry over night. It will cure when you ride it. There will be a little smoke, but it will stop after a few days.
