A rant on poser ass Harley riders

Last night I took my wife riding with me for V-day, we rode a few miles and night came and I had a couple of cagers politely tell me that my back bulb was not burning any more. I didn't want to ride it home this was because if I had two different cagers tell me that the bulb was out it was only a matter of time before a cop noticed too.

I went to the nearest auto store, which was an Advance Auto and bought some new bulbs, borrowed a screwdriver from the store toolbox and figured we'd be on our way. Turns out the ground wire were broke and I needed to do surgery in the parking lot, no problem, Advance had the tools and parts and some great guys working there that night, very helpful.

So I'm working on the bike and this guy zooms in on a Road King with the radio blasting Foo Fighters. I look up, kind of smile and he parks right next to us. I mean right next to us, I could literally feel the heat from his pipes. He's in his late 40ís early 50ís, wearing chaps, gloves, a leather jacket, riding boots, and a full face helmet with graphics on it like what crotch rocket riders may wear. He gets off the bike takes off his gloves and helmet struts over to us, and by strut I mean STRUT, this dude looked like he was a rooster looking to plant his seed. He looks at me working on the bike and says huh! And then walks off. No problem to me at this point, mind your own fucking business has always been my motto.

Dude goes into the store and comes directly back out. I notice that he hasn't bought anything and he wasn't even in there long enough to look. He puts his shit back on, walks back over to us and says what's wrong you lose a taillight on your Yamaha? He has this shit ass smirk on his face, that's even evident from behind his full-face helmet. I tell him yeah, my ground wire broke. He smirks, laughs and says well, that sucks this time of night, gets on his bike, revs it up and peels out right next to my wife who is standing beside my bike. Remember how close this fucker parked? My wife looks at me and says what a douche bag. That felt good to me because I knew her and me were on the same page, only I wanted to rip his ass off of that bike and stomp the shit out of him.

This dude pulled into this parking lot because he saw another biker working on his bike. Iím pretty sure thatís the only reason he pulled in. He may have pulled in to offer help until he realized that the bike I was on was a "jap" bike. (No I donít like to go on long rides 2 up with my wife on my rigid chop, so I chose to take the Yamaha, which is a great bike and has been my daily rider for the last 3 years.)

I've been in the "blue collar" field of work long enough that when I saw this guy pull up I knew what he was about. Just another white-collar punk ass poser with enough dough to buy a nice bike. :mad:What probably really shocked him was to see someone doing work on a bike themselves.

I get the wire fixed, throw in a new bulb even thought the old one was still good and me and my honey are off to enjoy the rest of our night together.

Although the rest of the night was great and I got to spend some much needed time with my wife, I still can't seem to get the image of this fucker smirking at us out of my mind. I mean who the hell listens to the radio on a bike, much less with a full-face helmet? Thatís funny to me, but the funniest thing is that any real biker would be able to tell that the Yamaha aint no Harley from a mile away. This cat had to get within 2 foot to do so! Wow what a douche bag!

OK RANT OVER!!**)

too bad you didn't have a camera. could have posted a thread on "Known Weekend Warriors to watch out for"

Merlin Hawaii 02-15-2009 11:50 AM

Just be glad that you're you - and not him

lonestar 02-15-2009 12:35 PM

Be glad you didn't snatch him off that bike. I bet he's been taking karate lessons. LOL

Seriously, it's a damn shame.
I've mentioned here before my neighbor owns a Honda. Not even sure what it is, but its a bagger, and it looks good.
He's a fireman, and his Harley firemen buds won't ride with him.

What is it about new shiny leathers and the HD logo turning someone into an instant prick? :HMMM:

bikefitter0 02-15-2009 12:37 PM

i think its always good to pull over and offer help, no matter what kind of bike your on. been in your shoes before

thumper 02-15-2009 12:48 PM

Don't give it another thought...that was not a rant. It was a nice pre-season warning for the rest of us to be on the lookout.

Rhode Warrior 02-15-2009 12:48 PM

Go to Laconia, Myrtle Beach or Daytona. You'll see a shitload of those asswipes.

Mykdaneck 02-15-2009 02:50 PM

my neighbor 3 doors down bought a Harley last summer. In my typical fashion (and his apparently too), we have never spoken. A nod here and there but thats about it. I'm out riding my scoot up to the corner video store and I see him with his daughter on the back in the parking lot. I give him a wave as we pass at in the parking lot and I get...nothing. That "I'm a badass toughguy look" was plastered all over his face as he is all hunched over trying to look as hard as possible. His daughter gave me a wave (she is friends with my older girls) but this dick thinks his shit don't stink because I'm riding a Honda. Oh well. Shit just makes me laugh.

hbal503 02-15-2009 03:02 PM

I have owned them all. (Honda, Harley and Big Dog) No i get harassed by my neighbors because i dont have my shovelhead running and need to be riding. This comes from abunch of guys that ride on pretty days and thing a Harley is the only motorcycle. Piss on them Shovelhead all the way. Man, if i see you on the road broke down i will help.

some guys buy a bike to be a badass. Fuck him , when his radio breaks and he's on the side of the road waiting for the rollback to take him to the dealer, all pissed because he didn't get the Onstar option he'll reflect and say i wonder if a dick up my ass feels good.

rootercycles 02-15-2009 03:30 PM

I see those posers all over down here (Wilmington, NC) and it drives me crazy! These old fuckin' guys think they are now "bikers" because they ordered flames on their Road King! I pulled up next to 3 or 4 of them the other day and they are loaded up with full leathers, head bandannas and one actually has an unlit cigar hanging from his mouth! What the fuck! I unfortunately have to pull up next to these jokers at a light and they think we are now kin or something. I certainly don't want to be associated with these Viagra poppin' fuckers so I blast my 127 and leave them in the dust. I don't even wear my leather jacket most of the time so as not to be mistaken for one of these fucks....

Cole 02-15-2009 03:34 PM

I pulled into Harley dealership and found a dude working on his bike, had a wiring issue with his Yamaha. I hopped on my bike, went 8 miles back to my shop got the truck, trailer, some scrap lengths of wire a meter and soldering shit and and electrical inverter for the truck and went back. We couldnt work it out it was getting dark so we put the bike on the trailer and I took him back to his place and never even asked for a couple bucks for gas or a hand job or anything. I wasnt looking to be a hero, find the problem and have him pat me on the back or anything, what struck me was nobody was helping the dude because he had a Yamaha and it was obvious. The dealership was sponsoring a ride that Saturday and there was no place to park except in the tree empty spots next to the dude with the Yamaha. Instead people would pull into the lot, see the guy and at the risk of being associated with the guy on the Yamaha the fuckers would pull out and park in the street. 3 months goes buy and I need my house re-roofed and who the fuck shows up but...fuckin dude on the Yamaha. Still no hand job but he shingled my house. Then he shingled my shop for free. I never ask anyone for anything, never even gave the guy any incling I was trying to get a deal for helping him in the past and I dont beleive in Karma, luck or anything else other than do un to others.

Mr Scary 02-15-2009 03:36 PM

I would think a real biker couldn't care less about what anyone else is doing.

 Yup! Thats why I rarely go to "bike nite" While I can get behind the "I have to have a Harley thing" that keeps Milwaukee going these clowns in their HarleyWeenie costumes make me cring. Bike nite and Saturday morning coffee and donuts at the dealer are about the only miles their bikes get. My 4 lb Chihuahua has logged more miles on a bike than most of them, in fact he rides everyday I ride TK.

mle 02-15-2009 03:42 PM

An Asshole is an Asshole whether he's on a Honda,Yamaha or Harley.
The bike doesn't make the man. He was an ass to begin with.
I went on a charity ride last year and had a flat on the way home.
I got passed up by every make of motorcycle and the only one that stopped was a State cop. People in general are in too much of a hurry these days.
Most of my friends (and they all ride Harley's) If they had the money would have a buffet of bikes including Ducati's,Hyabusa's ect.
If you can afford it and it's what you want ,more power to you. If you can wrench , more power to you. If you can afford to let the stealership change your oil, more power to you. The bike doesn't make the man.

Merlin Hawaii 02-15-2009 03:42 PM

If you get pissed off at these clowns

It doesn't affect anyone - except you.

Winston Churchill said it long ago:

"Chose your enemies well, for you become them"

And Merlin said it more recently:

"Don't Worry - Be Happy!!

Mr Scary 02-15-2009 03:59 PM

The way I see it...

Whatever makes a person happy....

Go for it.

It doesn't affect my life one bit.

When I rode a Triumph Rocket lll they would not wave or look over at me at a stop light. Now that I ride a Texas Chopper it is the same thing, my guess is that they are too embarrassed to be seen riding there overpriced slow harley,s. The locale kid on his moped waves all the time.

Look...

The point is...these days it's real cool to honor a company like WCC.

No one will ever question a person sportin WCC hats, shirts, bike parts.

However...

It's now uncool to honor the company that has been doing it for over 100 years...and created the lifestyle that everyone loves so god damn much?

Who cares what the other guy is doing?

Just ride man.

It was this.

Why do you care why a person buys a bike?

C'mon Scary, theres a decending order of cool and WCC is at the top, we all know its true and the only thing that would make me cooler would be a bike with a vagina I could fuck start in front of 7-11 during a scratch off bonanza sale.

there are certain personality characteristics that dont sit well with some if a guy buys a bike to turn into a badass then he is a goof, and it sounds loike the guy in the original post was just that,, enough with the moderator of the year , all is great live free shit , i think most would agree that any one who buys a hd to be an instant bad ass is a goof ... as far as the rest of your statements????
