you got this ..... it sux what BBC did but in your situation you probably have a good bike.. as we know, they used only the best stuff on their bikes.

I'd love to have one of those 100" S&S engines. And the Baker 6speed was nice too

Very nice bike! Öand for that price, thatís a really good deal.

As already mentioned here by gofish, yes itís a Merc Softail. They built the Merc as a softail and hardtail. I havenít seen a lot of them in real life, guess 1 or 2.
The Merc was the longest bike of the BBC fleet and looks pretty cool.

The weld issue of BBC is there yes, but as far as I know the Merc wasnít part of the recall. And your bike resp. frame should be ok. More or less in general, if I remember right, if you BBC has a neck gusset, it should be ok. The frames that failed all came out of that production era where they havenít used neck gussets in their frames.

Hard to say what the bike resp. the color of the bike looks in real. Post up some more pics.

I personally like the Merc gas tank they put on that bike. Looks pretty cool and you donít get that thing again. I saw one some time ago on ebay, the guy was asking a crazy price.
I own two BBCs, Screamin Demons, and put on one the WCC Villain gas tank, looks pretty cool, but sure was a lot of work to do. I donít exactly remember the bracket the Merc has on the frame for the gas tank. But I think itís a strut coming down from the backbone to hold the gas tank from both sides. Probably you can fit your tank to that bracket more easy than it was in my case (Screamin Demon).

BBC really used the best of the best parts for motor, tranny, primary, speedo, brakes, lights etc. They really had a good thing going there. Really sad they had that weld issueÖ

But I guess you have a really cool bike there and I would go for it for sure. One guy living 20 minutes away from here, also owns a Merc Softail. Reall nice bike. Just saw him with his Merc few weeks ago.

I agree with waxlrose, I like the merc oil tank. In fact I liked it so much it was part of the kit when I ordered my BBC.

Mine was pretty much a Devils Advicate but with Venom tins, except for the oil tank. I really liked the merc tank and was never a fan of the wrap around type tanks.

I remember the day me and my buddy picked up the "kit"..I'm only about 50 miles from Big Bear...... it was boxes and boxes filled with motorcycle goodness. We had to do a complete inventory when we got to the house/garage, every washer and nut was listed.

God I wish I was smart/talented enough to build a bike, But I am finally at the point of rewiring the shovel myself, waiting on my FXR still.

I really like the way this bike looks with a springer but think it looks as is.

edit in - so if I come back one day, that the shovelhead burns down, we all know why.

I really hate wiring. I run a tail light, brake light and a head light..ignition of course. Even with that small amount I take it down to my local shop to do any major wiring.

The rest of the stuff is just plug n play. For any custom or fab work I have a buddy who did this kind of work for 50 years.

Looking forward to more pics of this one.

The order says RevTek tyanny, I'm guessing like the engine, those prices are upgrade prices. So it's a Baker or Jims ? Both are excellent tranny.

4k for the paint and 4k for the upgraded engine.......I wonder what they charged to assemble it?

I can't tell where the invoice is from..

What happened to the springer? Hummm

Lots of good stuff right there..enjoy it brother

its all from Big Bear ordered through our local Harley, but it has personal information so I cropped it.

The springer I think was sold on a different bike, Yes its a Baker not a jims, or maybe jims internals (replaced?) not real sure. trying to upload pic,

I always wondered what pricing was for a new bike and this came with all the paperwork which is a nice turn around of 'no title, want 10k for a sportster' lol

Wisconsin 2008 BBC Venom

Hi from Wisconsin!
I have a 2008 Venom BBC. I've had it for a year and the crank broke in the Revtech 110ci motor so I swapped out for an Ultima 120ci motor. Currently having some problems with spark. It would run for awhile then stop. I'm going through the volt reg and the coil but when I was following the wire from the volt reg back to the origin I found a hard rubber block in the battery compartment with a bunch of wires going to it. I'm wondering if anyone knows what it is.

Thanks!
David

Hi wibigbearchop

I'm not that much into that electronic stuff, but I have the same box in both of my BBC Screamin Demons. On both choppers the box is placed in the battery box.
When I was doing all the wiring on my second bike, I was told that the box is the electronic "brain" of the bike. Not sure, but probably it's part of the Wire Plus Speedometer / wiring harness BBC used on their bikes.
Make sure the box is stowed well in the battery box - I personally did put some foam around it to make sure there's not too much vibration to the box.
