Ok, after walking away and coming back to it, the rear seal bolts both were pretty lose and I was able to get the rear intake manifold flange off. From there the intake manifold just popped out. Off to Lowe's for some massive Vise Grips and a Chisel 😜

Yep , I,m not sure what I see on the cylinders or manifold, but bowl definitely cracked.
If you hit the air cleaner, the impact goes all the way to the cylinders, but the only weak link brakes.

If you can find a used but good bowl, try that. If not. Perhaps the whole carb body? If not the carb. Ultima R carb is a great clone of s&s. Make sure It,s correct size.
Keep posted

I always put headlamps on a relay. My chopper has the low beam wired to the normally closed side, the high beam to the normally open.

Well she's back up and running. She runs strong as before, with no major issues but there is a few things that need to be tweaked...

- I need a gas tank! I can't stand the dent 🤦🏽*♂️

- I want to replace the rear tire but the riding season is fastly come to an end so I'll just wait till the winter rebuild but I was curious. Should I go 260? I've read that a 260 gives better handling over a 250 due to the difference in profile. Also I'm curious that I might not have the clearance between the rear fender if I swapped up.

- My new headlight, low beam stopped working the other day. It was working when I parked the bike the previous night, but the next night when I first went to head out, it was out. The high beam still works though.

- The carb has been the biggest thing that has changed. I took it apart, cleaned it and replaced the o-rings and diaphragm. It was pretty dirty. Now that it's back up and running, the carb runs totally different. It spits ever so often at cruising and it seems not to be running as smoothly in the lower rpms. To me, it seems to be running a lot richer.

don't understand why a 260 would handle better than a 250? figure if motogp is sticking to 190, there's probably a reason for it, and most of us are way over that.

i guess you're saying the radius of a 260 tire is better than a 250? you'd be changing brands too? the brand might be the difference, but again, i'm not sure of the basis for this.

carb is spitting? so irritating. any chance it's a leak somewhere? manifold or anything? cleaning it shouldn't make it richer assuming same jets. guess go back through the tuning process. maybe was rich before to account for it being dirty?

axeychrome,

In doing some research about 250 tires, I read that a lot of guys that normally run 250 rear, switched to a 260 because of the difference in profile. Apparently the 260s profile is curved more and not as flat as a 250s profile and is said to corner better.

that is interesting, had never heard that. i don't think i even remember a 260 when i was building. there were 230,240,250, and same size of a metzler was different than an avon, etc.

i think the 300 rr tire on my current chopper is less of a burden on handling than the 47 deg rake up front haha.

sounds like you did your research and are getting what you want though!
