wiring speedo ?

need help trying to wire up my speedo/tach digital..problem i have is my wire from the harness i am using list a red wire for indicator power, but the speedo wiring diagram has it listed has red wire from switched 12v power source..so does this mean need to run wire from ignition switch to that wire and if so do i still also attach the wire from harness also for ind power wire? so lost

speedo/tach is made by promax
wire harness is from ultima 18-533

As long as the power source you choose shuts off when you turn the key off it is considered switch power. Any source after the key switch will be fine

so pushrod do you think should just run the indicator power wire from harness to power on speedo or run a wire from ignition to speedo power wire? or do both? if was you which would you do?

I would find switch power as close to the speedo as i could ie: headlight wire just to reduce all the extra wire of running to the switch unless the switch is the closest source

pro max speedometer with ultima harness

OK I seem to be having a major problem with my wiring, does anyone have the wiring diagram for the pro max speedometer and the ultima harness? I have my + ind wires from the speedometer running to my ultima ind harness and all the - ind wires from the speedometer to a ground, is this correct? Also on my speed sensor there are two black negative wires one for speed sensor and the other just ground , does it matter what goes where ? There is no way of telling if there is .. and help or a picture of how someone wired there's up with the same set up would be nice thanks .. just found the two diagrams but how does the speedometer hook up ? And since there is a positive and a negative on the speedometer do i just run the positive to the ind on the ultima harness and all the negatives from the speedometer to a ground?

the diagram that you provided should be enough to wire it...do you have a volt meter? you do need one..what you have above is confusing to us..does the info below sound right?

1..run a switched hot wire to red wire
2..ground the black wire
3 ..speed sensor comes off of the transmission doesn't it? your wiring harness should hook to what ever type of speed sensor you have and hook to the blue wire.
4...If speed sensor comes off of transmission you may not need the orange...save it for last
5... speed sensor ground...the trans is already grounded so just ground that wire to frame ground.if not then hook to the speed sensors ground wire..
this may not be 100% but it is a good start not sure about speed sensor power I think trans speed sensor already powered. use your volt meter to make sure that all hot wires actually work..
