3 bikes- one speedo.

Never had speedo on my bikes, too much drama.
Judged the distance by mile stones and my speed by other drivers.

Always looked into something portable and clean.

Finally it arrived. Not long ago there was a thread here about GPS SPEEDO. Great potential- no calibration, no need for tire size, no wires etc. Still a bit bulky( I,m a minimalist)

Today I discovered a bicycle GPS speedo computer, GARMIN EDGE 200. $130 at Beacon.

Tested it in my M5 today, comparing to it,s speedo. Works great showing speed on LCD screen in format ##.# m/ hr, so I believe it goes up to 99.9 miles/ hr.( practically, who needs more?)
Has cheesy mounting system for bicycle handlebars, but I figured that the wrist strap made for another model ( called Quick release kit for forerunner 910xt - about $20) would work better, given I ride 3 bikes.

The strap despite the salesman,s doubts fit perfect:

Perhaps this is the most economical and one of the cleanest solutions for speedo for the minimalists' bikes.

Look it up on line, perhaps you could find better price, more or less advanced models etc.

Just to share with all of you...

Shit. It,s been 7 years since this thread. The technology is galloping.
Now I don,t need any speedo. Any smart phone with a GPS speedo app will do.
And the interfaces are great. Bunch of options, settings.

What mount are you using to hold your phone on the bars?

i'll take pictures. I have a work phone, galaxy 6, android. They gave me it with the Outer shell. I ordered additional aftermarket look alike which i drilled in the middle and bolted to a decent plastic vise/clamp[ don't recall where from, perhaps from a bicycle store]
it clamps right between the risers, LOOKS PROFESSIONAL, CLEAN and holds very well.
When I park a bike in a store i simply unhook the phone from the shell and take with me, leaving the shell behind.

But i might as well unscrew the lever of the clamp and take the whole thing with me.

Interesting, i went through 4-5 different apps till today i found the one i like the best. All of them somehow not good at keeping the trip. the last one i have, even if the application completely killed from the background keeps the trip. You have to force to reset it.

Yep, but just to make sure i might have a second bolt - so there's n way of rotating around.

I love the eccentric lever, it grips very well with the rubberized jaws.

Do you clamp it to the bike(show PICTURE) or keep it in the pocket?
