I had this same problem, I ran an additional wire to the bucket so it is no longer grounding through the neck bearing via the triple tree. I also did an ohm and continuity tests on all the wires as well as checked the output of the voltage regulator to make sure it was not putting out to much juice and frying the bulbs.

So far it has been fine and the only thing that I changed was adding a solid chassis ground.

Also this time I made sure my greasy oily hands did not come in contact with the bulb when I put it in.
