If the wheel is centred, are the front and rear sprockets in alignment with each other?
If they are, putting a spacer between your rear sprocket and wheel hub will make the chain run out of alignment.
You might need to space the front sprocket as well.
Statistically, 6 out of 7 dwarves are not Happy.
